Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 September 2026
Most privacy policies explain what a company does with your data. This one mostly explains why there is none: Deckon runs entirely between your own devices.
The short version
Deckon has no server. There is nowhere for your data to go, because we do not operate anything for it to go to.
Your deck, your paired devices, your preferences and the icons read from your installed applications are stored on your own computer. Your phone stores its pairing token in the operating system keychain. None of it is transmitted to us.
We do not use analytics, advertising identifiers, crash reporting or tracking of any kind in either app.
What stays on your computer
The desktop app writes to a folder in your home directory: the deck you built, a list of paired devices with a hash of each device’s token, your preferences, and a cache of icons read from your installed applications so the phone can display them.
To build that icon cache the app reads the names and icons of applications installed on the machine. That list is sent only to phones you have paired, over your own network, and never leaves it.
What stays on your phone
The phone app stores the pairing token issued by your computer in the operating system keychain, along with your chosen key style and which walkthroughs you have seen. Deleting the app removes all of it.
The phone asks for camera access solely to read the pairing QR code, and for local network access solely to reach the computer you paired with. Neither is used for anything else.
What travels between them
A key press, sent as a small message over your local network. Replies carry whether the action succeeded, the current round-trip latency, and — for the transport key — what is currently playing, so the key can show it.
This traffic goes directly between two devices on the same network. It does not traverse the internet and we cannot see it.
The website
This site is hosted on Vercel, which records standard server request logs including IP addresses for operational and security purposes. We do not add analytics or advertising scripts, and the site sets no cookies.
Downloads are served by GitHub, and GitHub logs those requests under its own privacy policy.
Payments and Smart Decks
If you subscribe to Smart Decks, you pay through Razorpay, which handles your card, UPI or bank details under its own privacy policy. We never see or store them. We receive your email address, the subscription and payment identifiers, and whether each payment succeeded.
Your licence key contains your email address and your subscription identifier. About once a billing period, the desktop app sends that key to deck.hangon.live to fetch a renewed one; if you cancel from the app, it sends the key to cancel the subscription. Nothing else about your deck, your keys or your computer is sent.
We use your email address to send your licence key and to answer you if you write to us. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell or share it.
The checkout page loads Razorpay’s payment window, which may set its own cookies while you pay.
Children
Deckon is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Rights of access, correction, deletion and portability apply to personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to produce or delete — deleting the apps removes everything, because everything is local.
If you believe that is wrong, write to privacy@hangon.live and we will look into it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top will change and the desktop app will ask you to read it before continuing.
